There are so many places around Tomatin that are worth exploring and everyone has different interest and tastes, but here are some suggestions of local places that we think worth are visiting during your stay with us! In and around Juniper Lodges & Tomatin: ​​
​​Juniper lodges is surrounded by fields and situated within minutes walking from the River Findhorn. There are plenty of scenic walks surrounding the lodges, where you can go and explore the surrounding Highland countryside. It is worthwhile if you have bikes bringing them along as it can be a very enjoyable area to cycle, particularly when the weather is good!

As well as being a popular destination for cyclists, bird and wildlife enthusiasts often come up the glen to spot our diverse wildlife including red squirrels, roe, sika and red deer, wild goats, rabbits and hares, pine martin, stoats. There is also wide variety of birds including: pheasants, partridges, red kites, buzzards, peregrine falcons, golden eagles, sand martin, curlew and common sandpipers, woodpecker, oyster catchers, gulls and much more! It is worth heading further up the glen towards Coignafearn where eagles and red deer are more often spotted.

Tomatin Distillery
Tomatin is a distillery near Inverness, offering whisky tours. Here, you will tour the distillery and learn how Tomatin produce their award-winning whiskies. Then at the end of your tour, you get to sample three types of whisky. The visitor centre also has a gift shop, where you can browse a range of Tomatin whiskies and merchandise. Plus, a ‘bottle your own’ option, where you can choose your own bottle of Tomatin’s cask strength whisky to purchase and take home. Thus providing you with a special memento of your trip to this Highland whisky distillery!
